Terms of Use

Last updated 9 September 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Decoded Lemon (Pty) Ltd for the use of Chalkline, including chalkline.club and the Chalkline apps for iOS and Android. By creating an account or using the service you accept them.

Who can use Chalkline

You need an account to create classes and publish activities, and you must be an adult to hold one. Learners and parents do not need an account and are not party to these terms beyond the obligation not to misuse the service.

Your content

You keep ownership of everything you create. You give us permission to store it and to display it to the people you share a class link with — that is the whole point of the product. You are responsible for what you publish.

Publishing a class link makes that class’s published activities visible to anyone who has the link. Treat the link as you would a door key. You can revoke it at any time by regenerating the join code in class settings.

Acceptable use

Our Community Guidelines form part of these terms. In short: do not publish other people’s personal information, do not publish abusive, threatening or unlawful material, and do not upload malware.

We may remove content, revoke a share link, or suspend an account that breaches these terms. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why.

Supporter membership

Chalkline is free to use, and every teaching feature stays free for everyone. The mobile apps offer an optional Chalkline Supporter membership that funds development and unlocks extras such as colour themes, app icons, PDF and calendar exports, and reusable activity templates.

  • The price, currency and billing period are shown on the purchase screen before you buy.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple or Google account at confirmation.
  • Recurring plans renew automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the period ends.
  • The once-off Supporter Pack does not renew.
  • Manage or cancel recurring support in your Apple or Google account settings — we cannot cancel it for you.

Availability

We work to keep Chalkline running, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. The service is provided “as is”, and to the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Decoded Lemon (Pty) Ltd is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data or profits arising from your use of Chalkline. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Ending your use

You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the app, or at chalkline.club/account/delete. We may end or suspend access if you materially breach these terms.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we will ask you to accept the new version before you next publish publicly.
